Second Migration Governance Profile: Republic of Guatemala
This profile presents well-developed areas and areas with potential for development of the migration governance structures of the Republic of Guatemala, according to the assessment made by the Migration Governance Indicators (IGM). This report provides a summary of the main changes and achievements in Peru’s migration governance since the first Assessment. The IGMs are a set of approximately 90 indicators that help countries assess their migration policies and contribute to the migration governance conversation by defining what a “well-managed migration policy” might look like.
The incorporation of target 10.7 in the 2030 Agenda created the need to define “well-planned and managed migration policies”. Therefore, in 2015, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) developed a Migration Governance Framework (MiGOF). The Framework provides a concise approach that enables States to define the essential elements that form the basis for a well-managed migration policy.
In an effort to operationalize the MiGOF, IOM collaborated with Economist Impact to develop the IGMs.
