During the last few weeks, El Salvador has been affected by two tropical storms. The first one called Amanda from May 28 to 30 and the second one called Cristobal from June 1 to 7. As of the date of this publication, the General Directorate of Civil Protection reports 10,412 displaced persons who are housed in 282 temporary collective sites (not all of which are official sites authorized by the DGPC). In addition, 27 people have been reported dead.
In support of the humanitarian response coordinated by the Sectoral Technical Commission for Temporary Shelters of the General Directorate of Civil Protection (DGPC), the International Organization for Migration (IOM) presents the Situation Report of the temporary collective sites in the departments of San Salvador and La Libertad. IOM acknowledges the support of the various government institutions for the collection of information for this report.
